Race, Gender, and Class at a Crossroads: A Survey of Their Intersection in Employment, Economics, and the Law
FEBRUARY 25 – 26, 2010
UNIVERSITY OF IOWA COLLEGE OF LAW, BOYD LAW BUILDING
IOWA CITY, IOWA

The Journal of Gender, Race & Justice’s 14th annual symposium will focus on gender, race and class and how they intersect within the areas of employment, economics, and the law. Too often we focus on only one of these socially constructed categories. However, race, gender, and class operate together within the various sections of each individual person’s life. Intersectionality explores how various forms of discriminations can intersect, creating special vulnerabilities for some that are not readily identifiable within traditional equality law. Our symposium will take a focused look at the discrimination of these vulnerable populations in the areas of employment, economics, and the law created by the intersection of these social constructs.
The Journal of Gender, Race & Justice is currently accepting proposals for its 14th annual symposium. If you are interested in publishing an article for the symposium, please e-mail our Senior Symposium Editor, Jonathan Stensvaag at jonathan-stensvaag@uiowa.edu with a CV and an abstract.
