Police Efficiency and the Fourth Amendment
Drawing from research in the behavioral sciences, Professor Richardson argues that implicit, nonconscious biases likely affect police officers’ judgments about whether circumstances warrant a “stop and frisk” of a given individual. She considers the possibility that courts should supplement their objective, fact-centered approach to stop-and-frisk cases with one that is more officer-centric.
