Roosevelt Elementary School (located at the corner of Greenwood and West Benton) needs 1L, 2L, and 3L volunteers to read to elementary students during the school day and/or to assist with the after school program from 3:00-5:00pm daily. Law students can make any level of commitment, and interested students should email Roosevelt Elementary Principal Mindy Paulsen at Paulsen.Mindy@iccsd.k12.ia.us. Interested students will be required to fill out paperwork and complete a criminal background check.

Students interested in working with the federal government should consider participating in the Student Education Employment Program, which provides paid opportunities to work with federal agencies. AAP Program: Research for Seminar Students, Oct. 8
Reference librarian Ted Potter will provide a research refresher and helpful tips for writing successful seminar papers. This program will take place at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, in Room 245 and is open to 2Ls and 3Ls enrolled in seminars. Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE)
The Museum of Jewish Heritage in collaboration with Yale Law School is proud to announce the Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE), a ground breaking initiative challenging law students to consider contemporary ethical issues facing their professions — using the Holocaust and the conduct of their professions in Nazi Germany as a framework for the study. This program will take place in summer 2010. Law school students will be chosen based on demonstrated superior academic ability and interest. Those chosen will have all costs of the program covered, including travel, lodging, and food. Applications can be found at www.mjhnyc.org/faspe. Application deadline is December 15.

UI CHILD CARE PROGRAMS
The UI sponsors a free weekend child care study program during midterms and finals for UI student-parents. This program is for students who have children, infancy through school-age. It is for the two weekends prior to midterms, October 3, 4, 10 & 11 (see web site for dates in December during finals). It takes place at Little Angels Learning Center (1 block from campus).
