Afghan-American Bar Association- Seeking Members

The national Afghan-American Bar Association (“AABarA”) was created in 2009.   AABarA seeks to further the advancement of Afghan-American attorneys, law students, and those interested in pursuing a legal career.  AABarA works to advance its members through its membership services, including mentorship and networking, and through its outreach to the public, other legal organizations, and governmental bodies.

AABarA does not currently, nor does it plan to do so in the next couple of years, charge a fee for membership.  Membership in AABarA is currently limited to U.S. trained attorneys and U.S. law students.  If you would like more information about AABarA or would like to take part in our mentorship program where we pair practicing Afghan-American attorneys with Afghan-American law students please email us at info@aabara.org.

We look forward to serving the Afghan-American legal community and the Afghan-American community at large.   For further information contact:   Farid Masoud, Chair of Membership Committee and Board Member of Afghan American Bar Association  or Nasrina Bargzie, President and Board Member of Afghan American Bar Association.

Student Handbook Update

With course registration and final examinations approaching, it would be a good idea to take a look at the College’s Student Handbook. It is available online at http://www.law.uiowa.edu/students/handbook.php. Although most of the content remains the same, I have enhanced some sections and removed some information that no longer seemed relevant or was available on the College of Law’s website. This memo highlights the changes. Read more

MPRE Review Course Fees

In response to a number of student inquiries, the College has sought clarification regarding the cost of BARBRI’s MPRE review course.  The price of this year’s course has increased to $250 to correspond with the new registration deposit for their Iowa bar review course.  However, as in the past, the MPRE review course is free once you have paid a deposit of at least that amount for any BARBRI bar review course (whether Iowa or another state).  You may register now for a BARBRI bar review course and pay your deposit to avoid paying a fee for the MPRE review course.  If you are unsure where you plan to take the bar, you may register for any state’s review course and later change this designation.

The College of Law does not endorse any particular MPRE or bar review vendor.
