A Public Servant:  Work and Life in Washington, D.C., Thursday, August 23, 12:40, room 245Mark P. Wetjen, J.D., Iowa 1999. Mr. Wetjen will discuss his professional life in private and public sector employment. He was sworn in as a Commissioner of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission on October 25, 2011. Commissioner Wetjen brings to the agency seven years of experience working for the Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate, Senator Harry Reid, whom he advised on all financial-services-related matters, including the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010. Commissioner Wetjen worked closely with the relevant congressional committees on Title VII of the Act, which the CFTC is charged with implementing. Before his service in the U.S. Senate, Commissioner Wetjen was a lawyer in private practice in California and Nevada.
