Orientation: A Day of Service for First Year Students

The Citizen Lawyer Program (CLP) welcomes the class of 2015 to the University of Iowa College of Law. As a yearly tradition, the program is organizing a community service event during orientation on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, from 12-4 pm. To ensure students have time for lunch, a box lunch will be provided.

During this event, first year students will have the opportunity to meet their fellow classmates while working together to spread the spirit of service at Iowa law. Six different agencies will be partnering with the law school this year, and students will be notified of their assigned agency via email by Monday, Aug. 6th, including a detailed description of their volunteer assignment with some very important instructions regarding appropriate attire and working conditions. If you have not received your email by Tuesday, August 7th at 9 am, please contact Sasha Vice ASAP at sasha-vice@uiowa.edu for your assignment information.

We will be revisiting some of our favorite locations this year, as well as welcoming a few new agencies to the program.

Here’s a link to the agency descriptions, as well their direct websites: http://www.law.uiowa.edu/documents/clp_Descriptions2012.pdf

As we look forward to starting the year off with a day of camaraderie and service to our community, we also hope you are all enjoying these final days of summer before the academic year begins in earnest. Please ‘like’ us on Facebook, and we will see you all soon!
